Our NEW Tasting Room! — Emily DaFoe

When we took over the lease for our tasting room space late last year, I immediately started thinking of how we could design it to our look and style. There were a lot of different ideas swirling around, but we made the decision to keep it light and airy, with cool pops of green, orange, and warm woods.

Our space had incredible built-ins that were a darker wood. It was beautiful but not as much “us” so the first thing on Rob’s honey-do list was to paint everything white. Wow did that make a difference. After a fresh coat of paint, we could start to see where we were going.

I stumbled upon a beautiful army green paint (one of my favorite colors) on Pinterest and immediately knew the lower cabinets behind the bar were going to be green. We needed a pop of color somewhere and it was the perfect spot. Next to go were the track lights. I ordered brass dome lights with wooden accents from World Market, and we made all the hardware behind the bar brass to match. After ordering a few rugs online that just didn’t suit us, I remembered a vintage moroccan in our garage that worked perfectly.

One element that was really important to Rob was to have a story of his past represented. Slowly over time, we have added images from his travels, his old snowboards, pieces of art he’s collected through the years, his late father’s FBI plaque, and more. The only hook was, I didn’t want it to look super crazy when you walk in the door so his gallery is against the front door.

To give us a bit more storage, our friends at Prints on Wood printed a huge photo of the Gaviota coast…then mounted it to barn door sliders. When the image is apart they hide the cubbies if glasses, hats, and wine…and when it’s together you see the panoramic photo Rob shot from the middle of the 101! To polish off the back of the bar, I had to represent my Wyoming roots and ordered a bison skull from Jackson.

All in all, it’s been a really fun project and I hope to get actual photos soon. Until then, here are some small detail shots of what we have done!
